STEP 11:
“Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.”

GOING DEEPER: TYPE 5 & STEP ELEVEN
↓
For returning participants: Step 11 invites your insight to become embodied, relational, and lived. For Type 5s, conscious contact deepens as you move from observing life to participating in it—trusting that God meets you not just in thought, but in presence and connection.
Gentle reminder: You do not have to withdraw to be safe. You can stay present, connected, and supported — one moment at a time.
1) The 3-Part Daily Rhythm (AM • Midday • PM)
Aim: Build connection through presence, not withdrawal.
- Morning (5–7 min): Sit quietly. Pray: “God, show me Your will; give me power to carry it out.” Ask: “Where am I invited to show up today?” Choose a Guiding Word (e.g., “engage,” “present,” “open”).
- Midday (60 sec pause): When you feel the urge to withdraw: inhale “I am here” • exhale “I stay.” Ask: “What is one small way I can stay engaged?”
- Evening (5 min): Reflect on where you stayed present vs. pulled away. Give thanks for moments of connection.
- Celebration cue: Every moment of staying present is a powerful step toward connection.
2) Two-Way Prayer — Type 5 Prompts
Aim: Move from thinking to relating with your Higher Power.
- “Where are You inviting me to engage?”
- “What would it look like to stay present right now?”
- “How can I trust connection instead of withdrawing?”
Write: 2–3 minutes to God → 2–3 minutes receiving.
Celebration cue: Each moment of listening moves you from isolation into relationship.
3) Somatic Presence (Body-Based Meditation for 5s)
Aim: Reconnect with your body and the present moment.
- Anchor: Feel your body supported in the chair.
- Breath: Slow inhale / longer exhale.
- Repeat: “I am here… I can stay.”
- Micro-cue: Lean slightly forward or make gentle eye contact when with others.
Celebration cue: As you stay in your body, life becomes accessible and real.
4) Discernment Grid — Mine, Theirs, God’s
Aim: Discern when to withdraw vs. when to engage.
| Mine | Theirs | God’s Will |
|---|---|---|
| Urge to withdraw, conserve energy, stay in head | Others’ presence and relational needs | Appropriate, grounded participation and connection |
Celebration cue: Choosing to engage, even slightly, builds connection and trust.
5) Short Connection Prayers
- “God, help me stay present.”
- “Guide me into connection.”
- “I can engage one step at a time.”
Celebration cue: These simple prayers gently bring you back into life and relationship.
6) Weekly Listening (15 minutes)
- Where did I withdraw?
- Where did I stay present?
- What is God inviting me into next?
Celebration cue: This reflection builds confidence in staying connected and engaged.
7) When Withdrawal Begins
- “I can stay for one more moment.”
- “Connection is safe right now.”
Celebration cue: Each time you stay, even briefly, you expand your capacity for life.
8) Step 11 Prayer — Type 5
“Higher Power, help me stay present and engaged in my life. When I feel the urge to withdraw, gently guide me back into connection. Let me trust that I have enough and that I am supported. Lead me into participation, relationship, and peace. Amen.”
Celebration cue: As you stay present, your life becomes fuller, richer, and more connected.
Summary of Going Deeper: Step 11 for Type 5s is embodied presence — moving from observation into participation. As you stay engaged and connected, your wisdom becomes lived experience, and your life expands with meaning and relationship.
You are not losing your independence — you are expanding into connection.
