STEP 3:
“Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.”

GOING DEEPER: TYPE 5 & STEP THREE

You’ve already taken an important step by recognizing that you don’t have to do life alone. For a Type 5, this is real courage. Going deeper means letting trust replace retreat, and allowing support to flow in without fear of depletion.

1. Move From One Surrender to Constant Surrender:

Type 5s may surrender intellectually, then quietly pull back when energy feels limited or emotions arise. Going deeper means noticing the impulse to withdraw—and turning your will over again, even when staying present feels uncomfortable.

  • Deeper Reflection: “When today did I retreat into my mind or independence instead of staying surrendered? What would it feel like to turn that moment over right now?”

2. Trust the Flow of Divine Will Instead of Stockpiling Energy:

Type 5s often conserve energy out of fear that there won’t be enough. Going deeper invites trust that divine care is ongoing—that you don’t need to hoard resources, knowledge, or emotional distance to stay safe.

  • Practice: When you feel the urge to pull back, pause and whisper: “I am supported.” Let yourself remain present just a little longer.

3. Transform Detachment Into Devotion:

For Type 5s, detachment has often been protection. Going deeper means letting that protective distance soften into devotion—choosing engagement, trust, and relationship with your Higher Power instead of observation from afar.

  • Inquiry: “What would it look like to offer my attention, not just my understanding, to my Higher Power today?”

4. Let Love Lead the Way:

At this depth, Step Three becomes about allowing love to reach you—emotionally, spiritually, relationally. You don’t lose yourself by staying connected; you discover that love replenishes rather than drains.

  • Integration Prompt: “Where can I let Love lead today by staying engaged instead of withdrawing?”

Summary of Going Deeper: For Type 5s, going deeper into Step Three means trusting that surrender doesn’t lead to depletion—it leads to renewal. As independence softens into devotion, connection becomes safe, and life no longer has to be managed alone.

If this feels too deep right now, that’s okay.
