For returning participants: Step 12 invites your joy to become grounded, present, and meaningful. For Type 7s, this means moving from chasing experience to fully living and sharing the moment you are in.
Gentle reminder: You do not need to escape discomfort to be okay. There is depth, peace, and connection available right here.
1) Carrying the Message (Through Presence)
Aim: Share recovery by staying present and real.
- Speak honestly about both joy and discomfort.
- Allow your story to include depth, not just positivity.
- Be fully present with others instead of moving on quickly.
- Celebration cue: Your presence creates meaningful, lasting connection.
2) Daily Practice of Principles
Aim: Stay grounded in the present moment.
- Notice when you want to escape, distract, or move on.
- Pause and ask: “What is here right now?”
- Stay with the moment, even if it feels uncomfortable.
- Celebration cue: Every moment of presence deepens your life experience.
3) Service as Presence & Follow-Through
Aim: Let your energy become steady and reliable.
- Follow through on commitments.
- Be present rather than distracted.
- Offer grounded, consistent support.
- Celebration cue: Your reliability builds trust and meaningful connection.
4) Discernment: Escape vs. Presence
Aim: Recognize when you are leaving the moment.

- “I can stay for this moment.”
- “There is something here for me.”
Celebration cue: Every time you stay, you expand your capacity for joy and depth.
8) Step 12 Prayer — Type 7
“Higher Power, help me stay present in my life. Guide me through both joy and discomfort with openness and trust. Let my energy become grounded, my presence steady, and my joy deep and real. Amen.”
Celebration cue: As you stay present, your joy becomes deeper, calmer, and more fulfilling.
