For returning participants: Step 12 invites your love to become balanced, free, and grounded in truth. For Type 2s, this means moving from helping to be needed into loving from fullness — where giving and receiving are both honored.
Gentle reminder: You are not here to earn love by helping. You are already loved — and your care is most powerful when it flows from that truth.
1) Carrying the Message (From Fullness, Not Need)
Aim: Share your recovery without over-giving or losing yourself.
- Offer your experience — not your rescue.
- Share honestly, including your needs and growth.
- Let others come to you instead of pursuing or fixing them.
- Celebration cue: When you share from fullness, your love becomes clear and freeing.
2) Daily Practice of Principles
Aim: Stay connected to yourself while loving others.
- Notice when you are overextending or seeking approval.
- Pause and ask: “What do I need right now?”
- Allow yourself to receive care as well as give it.
- Celebration cue: Each time you include yourself, your love becomes whole.
3) Service as Balance (Giving & Receiving)
Aim: Let service be mutual and life-giving.
- Offer help when asked or clearly appropriate.
- Practice saying “no” when needed.
- Receive support without deflecting or minimizing.
- Celebration cue: Balanced service creates deeper, healthier connections.
4) Discernment: Helping vs. Over-Giving
Aim: Recognize the difference between love and overextension.

8) Step 12 Prayer — Type 2
“Higher Power, help me love from fullness, not from need. Guide me to serve with balance, to give freely, and to receive openly. Let my life reflect healthy, grounded love. Amen.”
