November invites us to count our blessings, and Surrender School is high on my list.

Here, I’ve found a safe, supportive space where I can show up honestly—even when I don’t have everything figured out. Through the teachings, sharing, laughter, and sometimes tears, I’m learning to recognize my patterns, express my feelings, and let my voice be heard. Little by little, I’m becoming more present in my own life.

My transformation hasn’t been one grand “ta-da!” moment. It’s happening in smaller moments: saying what I really think, asking for help, and pausing to ask God, “What’s mine to do?” I’m grateful for a community where I can practice these things and feel supported as I grow.

Of course, November also brings gatherings, traditions, and enough food to require its own seating chart. Personally, I’m grateful for my mom and her famous pies, but I think I’ve eaten enough sweet potato pie to last me a lifetime—but apparently, nobody has notified my taste buds!

For those of us in OA, this season can bring both joy and challenges. We can reach out before a gathering, make room for a quiet pause, and stay connected to the people and practices that support our recovery. If a day is difficult, we can be honest about it and take the next caring step.

This November, I’m thankful for God’s grace, the gift of recovery, and all of you. Thank you for being part of my RECOVERY.
