GOING DEEPER: TYPE 3 & STEP SIX
↓
For returning participants: This deeper pass of Step Six shifts from “performing recovery” to letting truth reshape identity. For Type 3s, readiness is not more effort — it’s allowing God to right-size your worth so you can live from being, not achieving. This page is meant to help you celebrate how far you’ve come: you can now notice the moment you “image-manage” and choose a new way with God’s help.
Gentle reminder: Step Six is not a self-improvement project. It is a willingness practice. Your drive is not the problem — the overuse of performance and self-optimization is what becomes unmanageable.
1) Name the Grip, Invite the Grace
Aim: Catch the moment your system reaches for proving, polishing, or pushing — and invite God into that moment.
- Deeper Reflection: “Where do I still believe achievement keeps me safer than God does?”
- Micro-Prayer (10 seconds): Inhale: “I belong.” Exhale: “I release proving.”
- Celebration cue: Noticing the performance reflex is growth. Awareness is readiness beginning.
- Form Tie-in: Circle the one pattern spiking most this week. That’s your laboratory.
2) Defect → Distorted Gift → Balanced Gift
Aim: Reframe “defects” as overgrown strengths that fear amplified — then ask God for the balanced expression.
Use this grid:
| Overdone Pattern | What It Was Protecting | Balanced Expression (with God) |
|---|---|---|
| Image management | Worth / belonging | Authenticity |
| Overworking | Fear of failure | Steady presence |
| Emotional bypass | Avoiding shame | Felt honesty |
| Comparison | Safety through “winning” | Humility + connection |
- Prompt: Add one line: “Balanced expression I’m asking God for.”
- Celebration cue: You’re learning to be real — that’s deep recovery.
3) Emotional Readiness Check (Body-Based)
Aim: Let the body tell the truth. Readiness is felt before it is accomplished.
- Scan: Chest / throat / belly — rushed or grounded?
- Label: “Driven” → “Present.”
- Note: Write “3 + slowing” or “2 + tight chest.”
- Celebration cue: Grounding is grace in the body.
4) One Opposite Action a Day
Aim: Practice willingness in motion.
- Choose one opposite action: share honestly, rest without earning, ask for support, or do something slowly.
- After-Action Note: “What did I fear? What did God show me?”
- Celebration cue: One honest act beats a hundred polished performances.
5) “Willing to be Willing” Prayer
Aim: Name willingness without strain.
- Prayer: “God, I’m willing to be willing. Please free me from proving and return me to truth, presence, and love.”
- Celebration cue: Asking is surrender — you’re already doing it.
6) 7-Day Readiness Rhythm
Aim: Build readiness through repetition and care.
- Day 1–2: Notice proving → micro-prayer.
- Day 3–4: One opposite action daily.
- Day 5: Share one honest insight.
- Day 6: Re-rate willingness; note body shift.
- Day 7: Gratitude for any authenticity.
- Celebration cue: Progress is measured by truth — not trophies.
Summary of Going Deeper:
Readiness for a Type 3 is the courage to be loved without performing. You’re not losing your effectiveness — you’re letting God refine it into authentic presence. The fact that you can notice the proving impulse and practice one honest response is evidence of how far you’ve come.
If this feels too deep right now, that’s okay.
