GOING DEEPER: TYPE 9 & STEP SEVEN

For returning participants: This deeper pass of Step Seven invites a new understanding of humility — not shrinking, but showing up fully. As a Type 9, you are not being asked to lose your peace; you are learning to let God strengthen it through courage, presence, and voice. The fact that you can now notice when you disappear or go along is evidence of how far you’ve already come.

Gentle reminder: Humility for a Type 9 means believing your presence matters.

1) From Comfort to Courage

Aim: Shift from maintaining comfort to practicing engagement.

  • Deeper Reflection: “Where am I still choosing comfort over truth?”
  • Micro-Prayer (10 seconds): Inhale: “I am present.” Exhale: “God, help me speak.”
  • Body Cue: Notice heaviness, numbness, or drifting. Gently sit upright and ground your feet.
  • Celebration cue: Awareness of avoidance is awakening. That is growth.

2) Shortcomings as Distorted Gifts

Aim: See the beauty beneath the defense and ask God to mature it.

Shortcoming (Defense) Gift Underneath What I Ask God to Form
Avoidance Desire for peace Courageous engagement
Passivity Patience Active participation
People-pleasing Empathy Balanced self-expression
Self-erasure Adaptability Grounded identity
  • Prompt: “Which gift am I ready for God to strengthen through courage?”
  • Celebration cue: You are not broken — your strengths are simply being matured.

3) A Type 9 Seventh Step Prayer

Aim: Offer your comfort patterns honestly.

“Higher Power, I am willing that You have all of me — even the parts that disappear to keep the peace. Please remove from me the defense of __________ when it blocks truth and connection. Teach me that my voice creates peace, not disruption. Help me stay present, engaged, and courageous today. Amen.”

4) Engagement Reps — 3 Daily Micro-Practices

  • Morning: Ask, “Where might I need to speak today?”
  • Midday: Address one small thing instead of postponing it.
  • Evening: Journal: Where did I stay present instead of drifting?
  • Celebration cue: Small acts of engagement are rewiring your recovery.

5) Humility in Relationship

Aim: Practice showing up instead of blending in.

  • Practice Line: “I’d like to share what I really think.”
  • Boundary Practice: Say no once this week without apology.
  • Check-In: Ask yourself, “Am I present or disappearing?”

6) Let God Remove — Without Forcing Yourself

Aim: Allow growth without self-pressure.

  • Notice quicker recovery from procrastination.
  • Notice speaking up sooner.
  • Notice staying emotionally present during discomfort.
  • Celebration cue: Every moment of conscious engagement is humility in action.

Summary of Going Deeper:
Step Seven for Type 9 is about transforming passive peace into courageous peace. You are not losing harmony — you are strengthening it through presence and voice. God is not asking you to become louder; God is inviting you to become fully alive. The fact that you can now see your disappearing pattern and choose engagement is clear evidence of spiritual growth.

If this feels too deep right now, that’s okay.
