STEP 3:
“Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.”

GOING DEEPER: TYPE 9 & STEP THREE
↓
You’ve already made an important shift: you’re recognizing that “keeping the peace” by disappearing, numbing, or staying passive no longer brings the peace you truly want. That awareness alone is a deep act of courage for a Type 9. Going deeper is not about pushing yourself—it’s about gently waking up to your life and trusting that your presence matters.
1. Move From One Surrender to Constant Surrender:
Type 9s can sincerely turn their will over—then slowly drift back into autopilot, comfort, or distraction. Going deeper means noticing when you “check out” emotionally or spiritually and choosing to turn toward your Higher Power again, moment by moment.
- Deeper Reflection: “Where today did I go numb, procrastinate, or disappear instead of staying present? What would it look like to turn back toward my Higher Power right now?”
2. Trust the Flow of Divine Will Instead of Avoiding Discomfort:
Type 9s often avoid inner or outer conflict to preserve peace, but going deeper means trusting that divine peace can hold discomfort without destroying harmony. You don’t have to brace or shut down—your Higher Power can guide you through engagement with steadiness and care.
- Practice: When discomfort arises, pause and breathe. Whisper: “I can stay.” Then ask: “Higher Power, how can I stay present without forcing or fleeing?”
3. Transform Avoidance Into Devotion:
For Type 9, the reflex is often: “If I don’t engage, nothing bad will happen.” Going deeper means letting that energy become devotion—choosing presence as an act of love. Devotion is staying awake to your life, trusting that your voice, needs, and desires matter to your Higher Power.
- Inquiry: “What if my willingness to engage is not disruption—but devotion to the life my Higher Power gave me?”
4. Let Love Lead the Way:
At this depth, Step Three becomes a gentle re-entry into life. Love leads you out of numbing and into participation—without pressure or urgency. You act, speak, eat, and choose not to keep the peace, but to live in peace.
- Integration Prompt: “Where can I let Love lead today by choosing one small act of engagement instead of withdrawal?”
Summary of Going Deeper:
For Type 9s, going deeper into Step Three means moving from passive surrender to living participation. As avoidance softens into devotion, food loses its role as a numbing agent, and peace becomes something you inhabit—awake, present, and guided by Love.
If this feels too deep right now, that’s okay.
