GOING DEEPER: TYPE 8 & STEP SEVEN

For returning participants: This round of Step Seven invites a deeper kind of humility — letting Love reshape your power. As a Type 8, you don’t lose strength; you let God refine it so it protects without overpowering and connects without controlling. This page is meant to help you celebrate how far you’ve come: you can now catch the moment you armor up and choose a softer, truer strength with God’s help.

Gentle reminder: Humility is not weakness. It is strength surrendered to God.

1) Humility in Motion — From “I Can” to “God, Please”

Aim: Shift from effort to availability. Humility is not thinking less of yourself; it’s needing God more.

  • Deeper Reflection: “Where am I still trying to ‘improve myself’ instead of inviting God to transform me?”
  • Micro-Prayer (10 seconds): Inhale: “I release control.” Exhale: “God, lead me.”
  • Body Cue: Unclench jaw, drop shoulders, soften belly. Whisper: “I am safe when I soften.”
  • Celebration cue: The moment you ask, you are already practicing humility. That is real progress.

2) Shortcomings as Distorted Gifts

Aim: Name the gift beneath the defense and ask for its right-sized expression.

Use this grid:

Shortcoming (Defense) Gift Underneath What I Ask God to Form
Control Capacity to lead & protect Stewardship that shares power
Intensity Passion & aliveness Warm presence with pacing
Defiance Courage & truth-telling Brave honesty without combat
Self-reliance Resilience & agency Faithful interdependence
  • Prompt: “Which gift am I most ready for God to re-tune this week?”
  • Celebration cue: Seeing the gift means you’re no longer shaming your strength — you’re letting it mature.

3) A Type 8 Seventh Step Prayer (Personalizable)

Aim: Pray your own words daily. Insert one defense you named in Step 6.

“Higher Power, I am willing that You have all of me — my strength and my shield. Please remove from me the defense of __________ when it blocks love and usefulness. Shape my power into protection with tenderness, my voice into truth with timing, and my independence into holy interdependence. Lead me to act with courage and gentleness today. Amen.”

4) Surrender Reps — 3 Daily Micro-Practices (3–5 minutes total)

  • Morning: Hand on heart. Say your mantra. Name one defense you’re offering to God today.
  • Midday: When you feel the urge to take over, pause one breath: “God, lead. I’ll follow.” Choose one opposite behavior (listen, invite, delegate, soften tone).
  • Evening Examen: Write 3 lines: Where I softened • What changed • Thank You.
  • Celebration cue: These small reps are rewiring your nervous system toward trust.

5) Humility with People — Repair-Ready Posture

Aim: Let humility become relational, gently preparing the way for Steps 8–9 (without rushing amends).

  • Practice Line: “I notice I push when I’m afraid. I’m asking God to help me practice softness here.”
  • Check Your Impact: Ask one trusted person, “Did my energy feel safe today?” Just listen; no defense.
  • Boundary + Warmth: Keep the boundary — add warmth to your delivery.

6) “Let God Remove” — Not Forcing the Timeline

Aim: Release outcome management. Notice subtle shifts: quicker softening after triggers; asking for help once; slower tone; more listening.

  • Gratitude Scan (30 seconds): Name one moment today you felt guided instead of guarded.
  • If You Relapse into a Defense: Return to breath and prayer; recommit without self-attack. Humility learns; it doesn’t lash.
  • Celebration cue: Every return to God is growth. You are building trustworthy power.

Summary of Going Deeper: Step Seven for Type 8s is the alchemy of strength and softness. You bring willingness; God brings transformation — turning control into stewardship, intensity into warmth, defiance into brave kindness, and self-reliance into sacred connection. This is power you can trust — and that others can trust, too.

If this feels too deep right now, that’s okay.
