GOING DEEPER: TYPE 6 & STEP FIVE
For returning participants: This deeper pass of Step Five invites Type 6s to share not only what they admitted, but the fear, doubt, and need for reassurance that were driving their behavior. This is not about proving anything — it is about building inner security through honesty, connection, and trust in God.
Safety & care: Agree with your sponsor on pauses, prayer, and time-outs. You may stop at any time.
1) From Confession to Communion
Aim: Move beyond listing wrongs to revealing the fear beneath them.
- Deepening prompts:
- What was I afraid would happen if I told the truth?
- Who or what was I seeking reassurance from?
- What truth feels safe to say out loud now?
- Two-sentence share:
“When I [behavior], I was protecting myself from [fear]. It cost [impact]. I am willing to practice [new way] with God’s help.”
2) Somatic Honesty — Let the Body Speak
Aim: Notice where anxiety lives in your body.
- 1-minute check-in: Chest, stomach, jaw.
- Inhale: “I am supported.”
- Exhale: “I release fear.”
- Share: “As I say this, I feel it in my ____.”
3) Exact Nature = Pattern + Fear
Aim: Name both the behavior and the fear behind it.
- Trigger (uncertainty, conflict, abandonment)
- Fear (rejection, being wrong, being alone)
- Behavior (overthinking, reassurance-seeking, avoidance)
- What God Offers Now (trust, grounding, inner authority)
4) Sponsor Dialogue That Builds Inner Authority
Aim: Practice receiving feedback without collapsing into doubt.
- You say: “Please reflect one pattern and one grounded alternative.”
- Sponsor: “Would you consider…?”
- You: “Thank you. I will try this with God’s help.”
5) Releasing Fear-Based Control
Aim: Let go of needing certainty to feel safe.
Begin with: “God, I place my fears in Your care.”
End with: “I choose trust over worry.”
6) Gentle Bridge to Steps 6–9
Willingness seed (6–7):
Which fear pattern am I most ready to release?
Amends readiness (8–9):
Where has my anxiety or doubt affected others?
Summary of Going Deeper

If this feels too deep right now, that’s okay.
