GOING DEEPER: TYPE 6 & STEP ONE
↓
For those who have already worked Step One, this deeper exploration invites you to revisit powerlessness around fear, vigilance, and the need for certainty. For Type 6s, unmanageability often shows up as overthinking, scanning for danger, or trying to stay one step ahead. Going deeper is a celebration of how far you’ve come — and an invitation to trust presence over prediction.
1) Beyond Admitting Powerlessness — Living It
Even after admitting powerlessness, Type 6s may still try to manage recovery through worry, planning, or seeking reassurance. Going deeper means practicing relational powerlessness — allowing uncertainty without rushing to resolve it.
- Deeper Reflection: “Where do I still try to manage my fear by predicting outcomes or seeking certainty instead of trusting support?”
2) From Coping to Celebrating Growth
For much of life, vigilance was a coping strategy — a way to feel safe and prepared. Going deeper means noticing where you are already calmer, more trusting, and more grounded. Step One becomes a celebration of courage, not a test of readiness.
- Practice: Write a short note to yourself beginning with:
“I celebrate that today I am no longer…”
and
“I’m growing into someone who…”
3) Embodied Presence
Powerlessness becomes stabilizing when you return to the body instead of the mind’s projections. This practice helps anchor surrender in the present moment.
- Notice your feet on the ground and the rhythm of your breath.
- Recall a moment when you felt supported without needing certainty.
- Breathe and repeat: “I can be here without knowing what comes next.”
4) Healthy Separateness
Going deeper means recognizing that trust does not require agreement or constant reassurance. You can stand in your own experience while staying connected to others.
- Integration Prompt: “Where this week can I stay present with uncertainty without seeking reassurance or control?”
Summary of Going Deeper:
For Type 6s, deeper Step One work is not about eliminating fear.
It is about learning to live surrendered — with presence, courage, celebration, and trust.
Powerlessness becomes freedom from constant vigilance and a pathway into grounded faith, guided by your Higher Power rather than by fear.
If this feels too deep right now, that’s okay.
